Buffy took the power back from the CoW first in "Checkpoint" in order to fight for Dawn and foremost in "Chosen" when she chose to change the rule and activate the Potentials. Each time she took back what belonged to the Slayer.
Yes. And I really do think that, in the end, Joss wrote a feminst show -- Buffy reclaiming the power that originally belonged to them, not the Council "graciously" deciding to share power with them.
I also think that there was reason Buffy was so harsh when Chloe committed suicide, it kinda echoes Buffy's own death wish in season 5, it's the dark part of the Slayer, her weak spot.
Excellent point. Yes, I think that explains a lot. Buffy knew exactly where despair could lead to. And this reminds me of her conversation with Spike in Fool for Love about a Slayer's dance with death. Good stuff!
